Spending Time with Grant Gershon, Part 2

ALL IS YAR has published the second half of its interview with Grant Gershon (The link to Part One can be found here).  This interview focuses more on the qualities Gershon wants in the Master Chorale singers as well as his work with the L.A. Opera and L.A. Phil.  Excerpt: “Frankly, I was never really that interested in changing the sound of the group as much as I was simply making it more flexible and more specific, so that we could tap into that sound when it was appropriate for certain repertoire: if we were singing English choral music, we could sound like a great [English] choir; if we were singing German that you could close your eyes and think that you were in Berlin or Vienna; even more so with French music, and especially American music.”
